Central dust extraction system for 11 extraction points at Sto in Stühlingen.

Space savings, cost savings, easier maintenance, higher performance.

Sto, a global company headquartered in Stühlingen in southern Baden, is known worldwide for its high-quality products such as facade insulation systems, paints, acoustic systems, floor coatings, varnishes, and glazes.

At the Stühlingen site, Infastaub was commissioned to carry out a challenging project for Binkert Haustechnik GmbH (GU) and the end customer Sto SE & Co. KGaA. The project name
"Dust removal in Building 21" refers to a project whose successful implementation would not have been possible without the professional cooperation of all the companies involved, such as Sto, the company responsible for building services,
 Binkert, and Infastaub GmbH.

Only one dust extraction system instead of elevenThe task: Centralizing the dust extraction function and integrating 11 different extraction points, which were located in different rooms and on different floors. The aim
was to achieve significant space savings, lower maintenance costs, and easier dust disposal, combined with higher performance.

Mixed dusts and explosion protection concept
The dust produced was a mixture of wood dust, plastic particles, and inorganic components. The filter system was designed by Infastaub with a preventive explosion protection concept for the entire plant and placed on the ground floor. Effect: Thanks to this spatial placement, the dust produced can now be disposed of much more easily.
Although the limited space available during installation posed a challenge, this was successfully resolved.

Proven Infastaub bag filter system, type INFA-Jet AJNA key advantage of the INFA-JET AJN bag filter system used by Infastaub is its flexible modular design for continuous dust removal on machines and at workstations.
This Infastaub model series is suitable for volume flows from approx. 100 m³/h to approx. 25,000 m³/h. Almost any combination of designs – high, low, round or square – is possible. During
the filtration phase, the filter bags or pleated filter elements are cleaned at regular intervals by compressed air pulses, a process known as "jet cleaning."
The Infastaub INFA-JET type AJN is therefore ideal for this task – both from a process engineering point of view and in terms of the available space,
as well as for the various workstations where dust is generated.
The system has a filter area of 60 m² and operates at a negative pressure of – 80 mbar. The corresponding fan is located next to it.
Three 60-liter dust collection pots with casters are used for easy disposal, as the system is now located at ground level.

Key task: Pipeline planning and dimensioning of the filter/fan combination

In collaboration with Binkert Haustechnik, Infastaub also took on the pipe planning and dimensioning of the filter and fan, including the pressure loss calculation for the new pipes across two floors. This allowed the requirements for dust extraction at workstations such as sample production, belt sanders, circular saws, packaging machines, and
mixing stations to be individually dimensioned and optimized.

Following the planning phase, the system was ordered in April 2023 and commissioning was completed as planned in early 2024.
